BBC Nature Animals
"During daylight hours, BBC focuses on a bird feeding station in the woodlands of North Somerset. At night, it’s Badgercam from Devon Badger Watch in Tiverton. What makes these cams special is all the additional information (about birds and badgers) that is just one click away. Be sure to visit the Devon Badger Watch homepage for details about the Barton badger clan. Remember, the posted viewing times are in England (Western European Time), and are four hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time. (WET)"

Bats: Misunderstood Creatures
Reviewed April 1, 2001 by Susan McCormack, a teacher from Newfoundland, Canada who is affiliated with the site. Shade, a newborn bat, the runt of his Silverwing colony, is desperately trying to prove himself. As his colony is migrating south for the winter, Shade gets thrown off course, and is tossed into the raging ocean by the turbulent winds. He is lost, alone and cold. Will he survive? Will he find his colony? The award winning novel "Silverwing" by Kenneth Oppel is recommended for use at the Grade 8 level by the Department of Education in Newfoundland and Labrador. The web site explains everything you need to know about bats, the main characters of the novel, and the author himself. It also contains a comprehensive Teachers’ Corner with many interesting activities to accompany the novel. What is even more interesting is that it was created by two 8th grade classes and their teachers!

Banph: The Adventure
"The Adventures of Banph are the cartoon tales of an unlucky ant knight’s endeavors to defend his kingdom against enemies such as barbaric beetles and marauding locusts. The story takes place in a future world (that bears much resemblance to the middle ages) where insects have adopted many human characteristics and rule the earth. "Banph was created eighteen years ago by an uncle of mine. The work was written as pure entertainment for my brother and me when we were children, but I think it’s something everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy.""

Bagherra
"In Rudyard Kipling’s Jungle Book, Mowgli, the man-cub, is found abandoned in the jungle. Akela, the great lone wolf, asks, "Who speaks for this cub?" Bagheera, the black panther, drops from the trees, and in a soft purring voice speaks out to save the man-cub. Expanding this metaphor, Bagheera is a Web site where people can learn about endangered species issues, and become "a voice to help save the animals from becoming extinct." Bagheera is a rich resource, and includes case studies and classroom activities."

Backyard Birder
"Backyard birding requires only three things: a food supply, a water source, and safety from predictors like squirrels. This well-designed site covers each aspect of birding with just the right amount of detail. There is a page dedicated to choosing a bird feeder, with pictures of common styles. And a page about finding a place your feeder that maximizes convenience and viewing pleasure for you, and safety for your bird visitors."
