Gakken’s Photo Encyclopedia Ants
""The ant is a familiar insect that you have played with since your childhood. However, there is much information about ants that has remained unknown to you, such as: how many kinds there are, where they live and how they live?" Translated from the 1979 Japanese book of the same name, this delightful site has awesome photographs and whimsical illustrations. The entire encyclopedia is a joy to read; just excuse the occasional lapses in grammar. The best clicks are the sections on How to Catch Ants, How to Keep Ants, and Guidance for Individual Research. Looking for a science project? You’ll find some great ideas here."

Frogwatch USA
"Frogwatch USA is a frog and toad monitoring program managed by the National Wildlife Federation in partnership with the United States Geological Survey. Instead of actually counting frogs, scientists listen for their calls, and record call density on a scale from zero (no frogs heard) to three (a full chorus of continuous frog calls.) To view graphs for your area, click on your state, then choose a site from the left-hand column. Running down the right-hand side, you’ll see links to local species guides, provided by eNature.com."

Froghoo!
"Does this web directory of all things froggie look a little familiar? Perhaps it reminds you of another rather-well known web directory. In addition to being useful as a frog search engine, Froghoo! is just plain fun to explore. Of particular note are the Kids Stuff category, the Species Search (look to the left of the Froghoo! logo) and frogs in the news (to the right of the Froghoo! logo.) Species searches can be customized by keyword, state, vulnerability ( from secure to critically impaired) and level of federal protection."

Friends of the Sea Otters
"In January 1977, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service placed sea otters on the Endangered Species list. This makes them protected by state and federal laws. Friends of the Sea Otter (FSO) is an advocacy group dedicated to actively pressuring state and federal agencies, not only to maintain the current protections for sea otters but to increase and broaden these preservation efforts. Best multimedia clicks are the Online Videos, Sea Otter Vocalizations and Sea Otter Illustrations. "

"My pick of the day comes from The Exploratorium museum of San Francisco. Visit to enjoy the well-written articles, illustrated with photos and video clips. The lead feature, The Amazing Adaptable Frog, is a must see, as is the click-and-hear (ribbit, ribbit) Frog Tracker exhibit. For something a little different, venture beyond biology with Tales and Tours, where you can become acquainted with Frog City, Louisiana or learn about Frog Myths Across Cultures."

"ES2000 - Endangered Species of the Next Millennium" is a project undertaken to unravel the cruel fact that we, human beings, are the ultimate cause of the disappearing Animal Kingdom. Through our content sections, we aim to instill a sense of responsibility in our readers to help curb the worsening depletion of other living species on earth. Users will journey thorough the "What?", "Why?" and "How?" sections, enriching themselves with information about Endangered Species, after which they will be able to test themselves with the sectional quizzes. Other sections include the Species Profiles, where users immerse themselves and get acquainted with the different endangered species that exist throughout the world. The species communication panels allow users to track the latest developments of profiled species through other users. The media gallery houses the images, videos and sound snippets of endangered species that the team has collated throughout the creation of! the entry. The site also features a highly interactive story, whereby users take on the role of animal protectors in search for stolen endangered species, enriching themselves as they plod along the treacherous environments. We present to you ES2000, a comprehensive site on Endangered Species. By students, for students.
