Mudd Math Fun Facts
"Fun Facts from the mathematics department of Harvey Mudd College are tidbits designed to arouse mathematical ""curiosity and fascination"" and to show high-school and college students that there is more to math than calculus. Facts can be read randomly, or queried by subject (such as algebra, geometry or probability) and difficulty level. You can even submit your own fun fact for possible publication. For an example of one of the easiest facts, look up Mind-Reading Number Trick in the search box."

Mind Fun
"Mind Fun brings us two Java word games with chat. Word Web is a timed scrambled word game, with twenty-five letters connected with web-like strands. To form words you can either type them into the text box or drag your mouse over the letters. You’ll immediately see your word and its value (one point for four-letter words, two points for five-letter words, and so on) on the scoreboard. Cerebral Vortex is a trivia game ("Cultivated for its long edible root, it’s the pale unpopular cousin to the carrot"), with letters appearing hangman style (_ _ _ S _ I_) as the timer counts down."

Mattel Scrabble
"Mattel owns the rights to Scrabble outside of the US and Canada . So, if the spelling seems odd here, remember this is the Queen’s English. Best bets are the games and puzzles. There are three Shockwave word games (Scrabble Hangman, Scrabble Invaders and Scrabble Snake) on the kid’s menu (follow the pig) and four Scrabble challenges. The challenges are in the form of a turn in an existing game. You are given seven tiles and asked to maximize your word score. You’ll find these listed as Scrabble Puzzles on the adult (but not the kids) game menu."

Math Cats
"Teacher and mom Wendy Petti created Math Cats to promote ""playful explorations of important math concepts"" for elementary and middle-school students and she’s certainly succeeded! I loved the interaction between math and art (see Math Crafts and Art Gallery) and the Micro Worlds activities. To get started, you will need to download the free Micro Worlds Web Player but it’s worth the effort. Just look at the activity screenshots if need further convincing. To find activities for a particular age, click on Site Map and Info."

Mars Travel Planner
"It’s your job to put Pathfinder on Mars. But before you press the launch button, here’s a hint. Picking the right launch date so that Earth and Mars line-up correctly is important. When was the real Pathfinder launched? You can find the answer by searching this CNN site with the seek button just below the game console. Next, figure out the velocity needed to escape the Earth’s gravitational pull. Go ahead, give it a try. <!--"

Mars or Bust
"Join Iz and Auggie on this interplanetary multi-player journey to Mars. Chart a course through over a dozen space stations, buying and selling food and gas along the way. The player who lands on Mars with the most money wins. There is a chat component to this game, where you meet other players in the Cyber Swap Room to trade supplies and schmooze. High scores are posted daily, and prizes are awarded monthly. For those of us over eight, Mars or Bust is a winner!"
