Tanning Taboo
"When I was a teen growing up on the California beach, we greased ourselves with baby oil to attract the sun’s rays. My mother told me not to, but that didn’t stop me. Maybe reading this article (since it wasn’t written by your mother) will help get the point across that tanning is not healthy. In fact, our culture’s tanning infatuation is rather new. Years ago being pale was a sign of wealth, because only those who labored outside were bronzed by the sun."

Surfing the Net with Kids: Games for Preschoolers
"What do kids do with computers? Play, of course. And to encourage them, I’ve assembled a collection of my favorite online games for pre-readers. Most requireShockwave. If you haven’t yet downloaded and installed Shockwave, don’t hesitate. I consider it a requirement for families on the Net. One of the benefits of a Shockwave game is there are no delays in the game play because a Shockwave game runs on your computer, not over the Internet. To achieve this, however, the games will take a few minutes to download. "

Surfing the Net with Kids: Internet Safety
"Safety for kids on the Net is front-page news now that the Supreme Court has struck down the Computer Decency Act, returning sole responsibility for kids’ online activities to parents. Whether or not you opt to use parental-control software, children need to be taught a set of online safety rules. A lot has been written for parents on this subject, but here are some resources written specially for kids. Review them with your kids, and use them as a starting point to create your own set of online rules."
