Zelo Nursery Rhymes
"Mother Goose and other nursery rhymes are an important introduction to literature, and the basis for developing a love for words. All the experts agree: read rhymes to your kids. Zelo’s alphabetic list of nursery rhymes looks a little unfinished, but it’s the best collection of nursery rhymes I could find on the Web. For more ideas on using nursery rhymes as an educational tool, read Pat Anderson’sOn Reading Nursery Rhymes With Children of Varying Ages."

Writer’s Window
"This marvelous site (with a yummy color scheme) accepts not just poetry, but also reviews, research papers, and short stories. Each section of the site includes some ideas to get your writing started. And being such a huge fan of reading (you must read if you want to improve your writing), I was thrilled to learn of the Book Back Chat project – email discussion groups for readers in grades 1 through 8. A calendar for upcoming discussions (starting as soon as May 4, 2001) is posted, and joining is as simple as filling out an online form."

The Verse of Ogden Nash
"God in his wisdom made the fly, And then forgot to tell us why. I remember Ogden Nash from my childhood (""The Tale of Custard the Dragon"" in particular) and I think this collection of eight animal poems is a perfect Ogden Nash introduction for a new generation of fans. Click on ""Return to KidzPage"" to navigate the rest of this poetry site, which includes ""Critter ABC’s,"" Lewis Carroll’s ""Jabberwocky, "" and assorted limericks. "

Now your children’s poetic gems do not have to languish on the refrigerator door, they can be published. Family home pages and school Web sites both provide a gallery for children’s work. Additionally, I’ve found these five sites that accept poetry from kids. Let your creativity shine!"
