Snowflakes and Snow Crystals
"This site is all about snow crystals and snowflakes -- what they are, where they come from, and just how these remarkably complex and beautiful structures are created, quite literally, out of thin air. Best place to start on this Cal Tech site is the Snowflake Primer, where you’ll learn the answer to questions such as "Is it really true that no two snow crystals are alike?" and "Why do snow crystals form in such complex symmetrical shapes?""

PicoTurbine Renewable Energy Education
Reviewed November 5, 1999 by Steve Pendergrast, a reader from New Jersey, USA who is affiliated with the site. PicoTurbine.com has free plans for educational wind experiments that kids can perform. They have several plans you can download. One lets you build an 8-inch tall windmill that lights up. A larger version (3 feet tall) for older students charges Nicad batteries. PicoTurbine.com also has a "renewable energy heroes" page that profiles a young man (18 years old) who has built several electricity producing wind turbines. He started at the age of 13 and has even refurbished commercial units that are connected to the powergrid.

NOAA El Niño Theme Page
"The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s mission is to analyze changes in the Earth’s environment, and conserve our nation’s marine resources. To that end, they are keeping a close eye on El Niño. Filled with graphs and technical explanations, this site is an excellent starting point for advanced research. For example, you can view real-time data such as ocean temperatures transmitted via satellite from buoys in the tropical Pacific Ocean. Wow! For the rest of us, I recommend their Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)."

National Geographic: Eye in the Sky
"This segment on hurricanes is part of National Geographic’s Eye in the Sky feature, ""an investigation into the state of the planet from the point of view of satellites."" To traverse it, use the horizontal menu just below the Hurricane title, instead of the competing menus to the left and on top. My favorite click is the animation of how hurricanes form, which is accessible from both both The Effect and The Phenomena pages."
