Korea for Kids
"Created as companion site to the Australian text book ""Inside King Sejong’s Gate,"" Korea for Kids offers three interactive activities. The Counting Quiz (""Test your knowledge of Korean numbers 1-10""), the Word Quiz (""Test your knowledge of some Korean words""and (my favorite) the Virtual Journey. ""If we traveled by plane from Australia it would take about ten hours to reach South Korea or the Republic of Korea (its official name). So don’t be impatient if the computer seems slow. It’s still much quicker than taking the actual flight! Just imagine that we’ve been watching an in-flight movie and eating three airline meals."""

Kings & Queens of England
"For royal history buffs, this chronology of blue-blooded biographies starts with King Egbert, crowned in 802 (the "first West Saxon king to exercise authority over most of England") andcontinues to Elizabeth II and Prince Charles. The site has a very useful search function (so youdon’t need to scroll chronologically to find a particular royal), chapters on Palaces, Cathedralsand Castles, and a fun Facts section where I learned that Henry VI was the youngest king inBritish history. He was crowned in 1422 at an age of 8 months and 25 days."

Kids’ Castles
"This site is marvelous fun and my pick of the day. ""The home page has an aerial view of the castle. Clicking on a part of the view takes you to that part of the castle. You will find out about the people that lived there and what they did. Sometimes there will also be more information about an aspect of castle life, a game to play or puzzle to solve, or something YOU can do to add to the fun of Kids’ Castle."" Enjoy!"

Interpreting the Irish Famine
""It began with a blight of the potato crop that left acre upon acre of Irish farmland covered with black rot." The Irish Famine of 1846-1850 took as many as one million lives from hunger and disease, and had a profound impact on the social and cultural structure of Ireland. In addition, it spurred new waves of immigration, and thus also shaped the histories of the United States and Britain. This well-written, illustrated treatise includes a glossary and an extensive online bibliography. <!--"
